The Philippines has announced an extension of its visa-free entry scheme for travelers from Taiwan, allowing them to visit without a visa for up to 14 days until June 30 of the following year. This policy, initially introduced last year, is part of ongoing efforts to boost tourism and enhance cultural exchanges between the two regions. Taiwanese tourists intending to stay longer than the 14-day period will still be required to secure a visa prior to their arrival in the Philippines.
This decision aligns with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan similarly offers visa-free access to Philippine citizens. By continuing this policy, the Philippines aims to strengthen its ties with Taiwan and foster a mutually beneficial relationship that supports tourism and economic growth.
In addition to extending the visa-free entry program, the Philippines is actively working to increase the influx of Taiwanese tourists by enhancing flight connectivity and promoting a wider range of travel destinations. While well-known spots like Palawan remain popular, authorities are keen to showcase other regions and unique experiences across the archipelago, aiming to diversify the tourism appeal to Taiwanese visitors.
According to tourism statistics, Taiwan has emerged as one of the top sources of international tourists to the Philippines. Nearly 94,000 Taiwanese visitors were recorded in the first five months of the year, reflecting an upward trend compared to the same period in the previous year. These figures underscore the significance of Taiwan as a vital market for the Philippine tourism industry.
