Easterly Winds Bring Flood and Landslide Risks to Southern Luzon

by admin477351

As easterly winds bring moist air from the Pacific Ocean, several areas in southern Luzon, Philippines, are bracing for significant rainfall overnight and continuing into Wednesday. The regions most at risk include Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Aurora, the Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and northern Palawan. While the rain is generally expected to be light to moderate, there is a potential for heavier downpours in certain locations, posing risks of floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, the Visayas region faces its own weather challenges, with Western Visayas predicted to receive the most rainfall. Eastern Visayas will also experience cloudy skies, scattered showers, and thunderstorms. These conditions could lead to moderate to heavy rainfall, raising concerns about flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Northern Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rain due to northeasterly winds. In contrast, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and other areas within Calabarzon are likely to see partly cloudy conditions, with isolated showers and localized thunderstorms anticipated.

Across Mindanao, residents can expect generally fair weather during the morning, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to sunny. However, localized thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon and evening, particularly affecting Northern Mindanao, the Caraga region, and the northern Zamboanga Peninsula.

Authorities are advising residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides to stay informed on weather updates. It is recommended to carry umbrellas and exercise caution during periods of heavy rainfall to ensure personal safety.
