As Việt Nam and Singapore strive to bolster their political trust, both nations are intensifying their strategic coordination in the realms of technology, innovation, and sustainable development. This burgeoning collaboration is taking center stage during Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm’s state visit to Singapore from May 29 to 31. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyễn Mạnh Cường, the bilateral relationship has transcended conventional economic ties, now focusing on sectors that promise future growth and regional cohesion within ASEAN.

The elevation of their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025 underscores the increasing political trust and shared strategic objectives between the two countries. Singapore is a key economic ally for Việt Nam, being its second-largest foreign investor. It boasts thousands of active projects spanning manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, finance, real estate, and high technology sectors.

A prominent example of their collaboration is the Việt Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, which is evolving to incorporate greener and smarter industrial models that align with sustainable development goals. Both countries are also advancing their cooperation in cutting-edge sectors like artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, big data, clean energy, digital transformation, and green transition initiatives. Efforts are underway to link innovation ecosystems, technology enterprises, and skilled talent networks across both nations.

Economic cooperation will remain a primary focus during Tô Lâm’s visit, with an emphasis on enhancing collaboration in finance, trade, supply chains, and technological development. Initiatives like “Tech Connect” aim to foster stronger ties between governments, academic institutions, research bodies, and private enterprises in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. This visit is expected to support the upcoming generation of sustainable and high-tech VSIP projects throughout Việt Nam.

Additionally, Tô Lâm is slated to deliver a keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, one of the region’s premier security forums, during his trip to Singapore. Vietnamese officials view this invitation as a testament to Việt Nam’s expanding international influence and its dedication to peace, cooperation, and strategic autonomy.
