Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has presented his vision for the future of artificial intelligence, advocating for what he terms “superintelligence” that is accessible to all and more open AI models. In a comprehensive essay, Zuckerberg emphasized that advanced AI technologies should not remain under the control of a select few—whether companies, governments, or individuals. Instead, he argued for a system where users could exert more influence over the values and behaviors of AI systems.
To this end, Meta has introduced a new open-source AI model called Muse Glimmer, seeking to compete with offerings from other major AI firms. Zuckerberg defended Meta’s strategy of making AI technologies more accessible, contrasting it with the approach of companies that prefer to maintain tight control over proprietary systems. He further proposed that development of AI infrastructure, such as data centers, should be accelerated. As part of this strategy, Meta intends to invest in the communities surrounding its infrastructure projects. Zuckerberg cautioned that imposing regulations to slow AI development could put the United States at a disadvantage compared to China.
